Georgina Freeth was the third child of William Freeth & Emma Standley born October 9th, 1862 at Smethwick, Staffs.
In 1871 the family lived at Oldbury Rd, Smethwick & Georgina now had 2 sisters & 3 brothers.
By 1881 Georgina, her 4 brothers & 2 sisters & parents had moved to Cemetery Rd, Oldbury.
The next year Georgina emigrated to the USA & on April 30th, 1882 she arrived in Boston, Massachusetts.
On May 3rd, 1883 Georgina married James Summerton (listed as Summerfield) in the Minnesota marriages index. The marriage took place in Minneapolis, Hennepin. James was born June 23rd, 1860 in England.
Georgina & James were living in Muncie, Delaware, Indiana in 1900. The census shows that James, a machinist, immigrated from England in 1881. They had had 8 children, 7 of whom were atill alive & living with them – Nellie (16), a school teacher, Kate Elizabeth (14), Mary Isabelle (12), Lillian (9), Laura E (7)), James Edgar (3) & Alfred E (1).
Georgina was listed as head of the household in the 1910 census & living at Wilkinsburg, Allegheny, Pennsylvania with daughters Mary, Laura & 6 year old Ethel Beatrice & son James. At the time of the 1910 census James was visiting his daughter Nellie, now married to George C Lemmon, in Vandergrift, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.
Daughter Lillian had married Frank Aites, a grocers retail merchant, & in 1920 she & Frank were living in Vandergrift with 2 sons. Sadly Lillian died the next year.
In 1920 son James Edgar was lodging with the Eissler family in Pittsburgh. He was a sales clerk (laboratory). In 1920 he married Mary Pearle Young in Los Angeles. His second marriage to Cora Eleanor Summerfield took place in 1934 in Los Angeles. By 1940 James & his wife Eleanor were living in Santa Monica, California & he was an automobile saleman.
Daughter Ethel Beatrice married William Carl Doverspike, a mechanic at an auto garage, & by 1930 they were living in North Apollo, Pennsylvania with 3 sons, 2 of whom were twins.
Georgina & James were living at Hyde Park, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania in 1930 & all the children had left home. James was a machinist at a steel foundry. Daughter Nellie & husband George Lemmon were still living in Vandergrift in 1930 where George was a roller at a steel mill. They had a daughter & 3 sons with them. Daughter Mary Isabelle married Arthur Albert Brideson & in 1930 they were also living in Vandergrift with a daughter Mary M. Arthur was a merchant, pool room.
James died on January 2nd, 1939 & is buried at Vandergrift cemetery, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.
In 1940 Georgina (listed as Georgiana in the census) was with her daughter Laura & her husband, Frank Lace, a proprietor of a pool hall, & their son & daughter. Georgina was listed as widowed & her address in 1935 had been Hyde Park, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. They were living at West Adams Avenue, Vandergrift, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.
Georgina died on November 14th, 1943 & was buried near her husband James at Vandergrift Cemetery.
